After growing up on an Australian farm and reporting for the ABC from every state and Antarctica I left to go traveling for a year. It turned into 17 years away with dozens of news assignments around the world; the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the US and Asia. I spent a decade with Al Jazeera covering two Gaza wars, Egypt’s military coup and completed a Masters in Middle East Studies at the University of London, SOAS. I lived and reported inside Gaza for one year and then Jerusalem, Cairo and Islamabad. Next onto Istanbul, New York, Washington DC and again to London covering terrorist attacks in Turkey, wars against Isis in Iraq and Libya, US midterm elections and a British election. There’s been assignments in Afghanistan, Kenya, Niger, Mexico and a dozen European countries. Now back on home soil in Sydney I’m an ocean swimmer, still working in international news and ready for the next story.
